Greetings  Handbell Directors and Ringers,

We hope that many of you are planning to resume ringing this fall. The Handbell Association of Greater St. Louis is happy to announce 2 events for the 2021 – 2022 season.

Our first event is a Virtual Reading Session – this will be debuted in early August on video and will be followed by a Zoom Roundtable on Tuesday, August 24 at 7 pm.  The video will consist of recordings from publishers as well as some live recordings that the HAGSTL Board will record.  Nancy Helmich has put together a great list of pieces for this reading session, including lots of ideas for 12 bell ringing as well as pieces for full choir. Stay tuned for more details on accessing the video in August.

Our second event is the return of Bellabration – a mass ringing event which will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Kirkwood UMC.  The music for this event will also be included in the August reading session video.  But if you’d like a “sneak peak,” here’s the list of the pieces that will be performed at Bellabration:

  1. Acclamation in G Minor – Karen Thompson
  2. American Tapestry (Down by the Riverside) – Arnold Sherman
  3. Celtic Grace – Tammy Waldrop
  4. Meditation on Beautiful Savior – Cathy Moklebust
  5. Holy, Holy, Holy – John Behnke (will be published in December)

More details will be forthcoming about both of these events, but please put them on your calendar – we hope to see you in person this year!

Happy Summer!

Cathy Benton, Chair
